Monday Motivation - Don't Give Up

Okay! So I'm going to be starting this Monday Motivation. We can't expect ourselves to feel go-getter-ish all the time; we all experience mental slumps at some point. And sometimes, we let ourselves to just sit in the slump we're in. But if you're like me, you may feel like you can't escape the hole and are begging for something to kick you in the butt and back to your optimistic self.
Well here's your weekly kick!... well, slight nudge.

So I signed up for my spring marathon, and I am beyond scared. The thought of developing another stress reaction or fracture lingers. What if I can't hardly walk again after a 20 mile run? What if I suck at keeping prescribed paces during my track runs? Why the heck am I even thinking that I should run 26.2 miles for fun? Should I even try again?

Its like I'm giving up before I'm even starting...
Giving up is easy. But what happens if I don't give up?

Why do we give up?
One reason is because we lose motivation to keep pushing.
Assess where you get your motivation. Do you drive yourself? Do you feel motivation from others or feeling part of a group? Whichever it may be, use it to your strength!

If you're more intrinsically motivated, may I suggest keeping a journal of your progress. I know when I'm feeling down or question why I'm even doing anything, I like to look back at where I was even just 6 months ago, and instantly feel motivated to keep going.

If you're more extrinsically motivated, then grab a friend and work towards the goal together!

You're capable of so much - just see what happens!

What challenges do you face? Do you feel like giving up? Do you ask yourself why you're even doing it? What do you think will happen if you don't give up?

Let me know in the comments what challenges you're facing and what motivates you to keep going :)

HOF Marathon Training: 1 of 16

IT'S TIME! Hall of Fame Marathon Training is here! Hey guys! I'm so excited to be on a training schedule again. I want my redemption at HOF for Erie. If you followed me last summer, I trained for Erie up until 4 weeks out, only to result in an overuse injury. This is my time. I've rested, cross trained, and learned so much to better prepare myself for this training cycle.  This winter/spring race season has a couple races that I wont be racing for time, rather just to enjoy the energy and use them as test runs going towards marathon day. Some of these are the ever-favorites like Spring Thaw and Just A Short Run that are unique to the Pittsburgh area. These two races alone have brought me to meet many others in the running community that I am happy to call my friends.  Everything I will be doing now is aimed for April 29th LETS DO THIS So this week has been kinda crazy... as if my life isn't ever not-crazy. With marathon training and starting...

Monday Motivation: Good Week

But really, isn't every week? Life is what you make it despite the ups and downs we face. Leave whatever struggles and hardships this past week brought you. It's last week, we have to look ahead of us. Ever try looking backwards while running? You're not as focused on going forward. And isn't that why you're running in the first place? So make this week a good week that you can reflect on and be proud of. Welcome the challenges. Crush those goals. Be mindful. Enjoy the little moments. And damnit, smile all the way through.  Have a good week!

Monday Motivation: Positive Pants and Get Stuff Done

My Positive Pants: comfortable clothes (that match hah), a good makeup look, and some EDM. If you see me around with said look, I'm probably on a mission. What do your positive pants look like? --- Get stuff done. What do you consider stuff? For me, it's prepping food and my school stuff for the coming week, catching up on sleep, doing some yoga and stretching, and just putting myself in a positive mindset so I can crush the coming week. It's not always easy, and I'm not going to sit here and say that I do it all the time either. Hence why I started this Monday Motivation weekly post - so I can get in the mindset that I can and will accomplish Monday. Not everyone has the same stuff, but I can almost guarantee that we all have a list of things we need or want to do, but put off time and time again. So this Monday, look at your list. Do you have 5 extra minutes to make that doctors appointment or can do a load of laundry while cooking dinner? If s...
