Senita Athletics Review... more like RAVE!

Okay, so this honestly is more like a rave than a review. If you have brought up running clothes to me in person, then you have definitely heard me say something about Senita Athletics!

All opinions posted are my own. I paid for all clothes featured and am not receiving compensation for my review - just sharing the awesome clothes!

I'm a broke nursing student, so I NEED a good deal. And it seems like any good athletic clothes are ridiculously expensive. My friend Steff introduced me to Senita from her blog, and I was SOLD. Not only are these clothes within a decent price range, but they're literally the most comfortable and best performing clothes I own.
I would say that I love them even more than my Lululemon clothes I own, and its 1/2-1/3 of the price!!!

Okay, lets get to it

My first order:
Breathe Tank in White, Sarah Sports Bra in Bahamas, and Swift Shorts 2 in Bahamas (Bahamas no longer on website).
Total Cost: $70 but with 10% discount: $63! Yes, a wholeeeee quality running outfit is less than $100!

Breathe Tank:

So breathable!

Post Run Excitement over this top!

First Reaction: IT'S SO SOFT! The material really blew me away. and I was so excited about the mesh in the back since this girl right here is quite the sweat-er. I also really liked the neckline being as high as it was versus other tanks where I feel like I may be falling out. Yet, it was 'low' enough to not feel like I was being choked or would just sweat right through.

Out on the run: I felt like the shirt 'breathed'. I didn't feel weighed down when I started sweating, and the picture above was during a mid-morning 8 mile tempo run. I felt cool too, which is definitely a plus for those summer runs and race mornings.

Sizing: True. I'm 5'8" average build and wear a Small.

Sarah Sports Bra:

Bra was super fun in color and felt so supported through this race!

First Reaction: Similar material as the Breathe Tank, and with tons of padding! I'm not super busty, but I definitely need support. And you know how LITERALLY all the pads of bras come out? These don't move! It's beautiful!! Now the only drawback is that the bra is so structured that it can be hard to get on and off; I look like I'm doing some weird dance trying to get it off.

Out on the run: My chest feels supported and secured, but not like a push-up bra. Running photos suck sometimes because you're so unsupported that your boobs either are at your belly button or at your chin (okay, not actually happening to me, but some people actually struggle with support that badly). But when I saw pictures of myself in this bra, I wasn't all over the place; the girls were right where they should be. I also noticed that my arm swing was different. Little do women know that your level of chest support can really impact your arm swing, which can then impact your run.

Sizing: True. I'm a 32DD and average build and wear a Small.

Swift Shorts 2:

Long yet at a flattering length

These pockets are huge!

breathable outer shell

First Reaction: OH MY GOSH - LOOK AT ALL THE POCKETS! There's a keyhole pocket, a zipper pocket in the back, and two pockets on the compression shorts that fit an iPhone 6+. Um... YESSSS. The outer shell fabric was super breathable and light, and the compression shorts were super stretchy. The compression shorts also have this like lining at the bottom to keep the shorts in place too! Although I like to feel flattered in my clothes, I don't like to 'stick out'. The shorts had a 3.5" seam which is long enough to cover my backside without hitting my legs at an awkward length.

Out on the run: The waistband felt kinda loose - but it didnt fall down when I ran, even with 2 GUs, my iPhone 6, and my mess of keys in my pockets. When I say it didn't fall down, nothing moved! I didn't chaff even after 8 sweaty miles.

I rave about these shorts so much and only wear these shorts for races because of how comfortable and user-friendly they are. I even went ahead and bought two more because I can't stand to wear any of my other shorts now.

Guys, these clothes are a serious game changer. They're always introducing more, and are so receptive to comments and questions. Maddie and Jenna really stepped up the affordable workout clothing game, and I can't wait to see what else they bring to their shop. (I hope they bring in reflective gear for these dark winter months!)

Let me know how you like these clothes.

Will try to get a discount code for y'all soon!

PGH 5K Race Recap

Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for all the photos! This was the first 5K I've done since Fall of 2012. Not that I've avoided 5Ks, but just always put the focus on adding mileage and not really speed training. Last week I received an email that they extended the sign-up for the UPMC Health Plan 5K, and decided to just go with it. To be quite frank, I only did it because I saw that doing the 5K and either the Half or Full Marathon meant you were participating in the Steel Challenge. I saw "challenge" and couldn't pass that up. Competitive much? Medals just steel-ing the spotlight However, I wasn't feeling completely confident in myself about this run. I told myself I should take it as a shakeout run before the Half. Well, after a speedy 3 miles the other day, I found the courage to make this a race worth racing for. IG post after completing 3 miles in 22:04 (there were some stops along the way) I had tremendous support

Starting a blog?! But I'm not a writer...

I'm not great with words. There, I said it. Put me in a college Calculus class or in Biology, I'll do just fine. Put me in an 11th grade English and Writing class... yeah I'll hyperventilate... a lot. However!!! I have a lot to say, and a lot to say about my running journey at that. I'm a full year into falling in love with running all over again, and I felt it was time to just tighten my shoelaces and start writing. I have met so many people from the running community through my Instagram @runningawayfromadulting, and viewing their blogs only brought me closer to desiring to start my own. There's also a character limit on IG, sooooooo... To those who are reading this, I am NOT AN EXPERT and will never claim to be. Blogging for me is a space to vent to whomever wants to listen, to encourage others as they continue their own fitness journeys, to share my triumphs and failures, and so much more. This space will not tolerate negativity, condescending attitudes, or

5 Helpful Tips for Summer Marathon Training

My first marathon is in September. When I picked the marathon, I chose Erie because it was close to home and because it was the last weekend for Boston Qualifying submissions for 2018. I did not, however, completely consider that it would mean training all summer. Oops. As someone who does not handle the heat well, I've compiled a five helpful tips that I plan to use to help combat summer training for fall marathon season. 1. Always Check the Weather I do this all year round, but this is especially critical for me for the summer. Last summer, I was training for my first half marathon, and I found myself running late at night because those times had the lowest temperatures. I've also found the early mornings to be great since the sun hasn't boiled the ground yet either. ... unless you like the heat... you crazy heat people... It's also good to see how the weather is going to be a few days out. If your training is a little flexible, th
